River's Edge Resident

Independent Living

Independent seniors who prefers “community” to living alone should consider making their home at the Chateau on Capitol Avenue, which is located in the heart of culturally rich midtown Sacramento.

Residents enjoy private, studio and one–bedroom apartments on a month-to-month rental basis. They don’t have to deplete their savings for an expensive “buy-in” fee nor commit to a lengthy lease period.

Each apartment has a kitchen, is cable-ready and equipped with individually controlled heating/air–conditioning. Many apartments have a balcony and there is a convenient underground resident parking garage.  Apartments are ready to be individualized with resident’s personal furnishings and belongings.

Because the Chateau on Capitol Avenue was specifically designed to meet the needs of seniors, it has special features not found in most private homes. The hallways have handrails and are wide and well–lighted. There are grab bars in the restrooms. An emergency call system in each apartment is monitored 24 hours a day. Wearable signaling pendants are available and other safety features give residents and their families added peace of mind.

A beautiful lobby with a baby grand piano offers an abundance of comfortable seating so residents can relax and visit, play cards, board games or finish a jigsaw puzzle. Coffee, tea and other refreshments are available throughout the day in the quaint Market Café that is adjacent to the dining room. A library does double duty as a computer center. There is internet access and free email accounts for residents. A large Activity room is the locale for crafts, bingo and other group meetings, while weekly movie viewing is scheduled in the TV room.

Three delicious balanced meals and snacks are served daily. All menus are reviewed by a registered dietician. Residents enjoy restaurant-style dining and the cuisine is prepared with the freshest ingredients by trained and talented chefs who rival those found in four–star hotels. The superb kitchen staff also can provide catering for private functions.

A built–in “extended family” of neighbors who care about each other increases residents opportunities to socialize. And instead of doing mundane chores, they can lead fulfilled, enriched lives. There is no more yard work, maintenance, housekeeping or meal preparation unless they so choose. And, residents don’t have to depend on or burden family members with these everyday tasks. They’re free to make new friends, take up hobbies or enjoy favorite leisure pastimes.

As a Hank Fisher Properties’ retirement community, the Chateau on Capitol Avenue offers a full complement of social and recreational activities. Singers, musicians and performers entertain on site. Health promotion lectures and exercise classes allow residents to take an active role in maximizing their own well being. Massages and regular podiatry care also are available on–site. Bridge, canasta, bingo, other games and fun activities are on-going. Financial and educational programs are offered, as are local outings and over-night excursions.

Complimentary scheduled transportation makes it easy for residents to visit local grocery stores, banks, medical and dental offices and social outings without the hassle of finding parking or coping with traffic.

Residents are afforded a wide array of choices among available amenities and services. There’s housekeeping, complimentary laundry facilities as well as personal laundry and linen services. Also on-site is a beauty/barber shop as well as concierge assistance for dry cleaning pick up and delivery, notary and postal services.

Hair styles from various decades are featured in the beauty salon/barber shop.

Staff is on hand 24–hours each day and is carefully selected to ensure they have a “gift of caring.” They go the extra mile to ensure residents feel at home from their first day on.
